   About us

Welcome to Siam Crown Kennel, dedicated to the breeding and training of the Belgian Malinois and in 2009 the Dutch Shepherd. We are located on a 20 acre site in Samphran, Thailand about 65 kilometers outside of Bangkok, on the banks of the Nakhon Chaisri River.

Our Facility has complete airconditioned kennels for our dogs and puppies. We also have a IPO/KNPV training setup with grounds and equipment and an onsite veterinary support room. The kennel is staffed by 5 full time handlers. We work in close collaboration with our good friends at van de Vroomshoeve kennels in Holland, and you will notice that the blood lines of our dogs often parallel theirs. A lot of thought and planning went into the establishment of Siam Crown. We have owned working dogs for over 30 years, always in South East Asia. For over 20 years our dogs were German Shepherds. Some years ago we felt that the availability of quality German Shepherds was diminishing.

At that time we were not familiar with the Malinois. After looking at options for working dogs other than the German Shepherd, but with key items such as stability, working drives, lack of hip, elbow and back problems, all weather endurance (especially in our tropical climate);we chose the Belgian Malinois, and recently elected to add the Dutch Shepherd.

We did so after taking note of the success of the Malinois in a number of disciplines such as IPO and KNPV, as well as the adoption of the breed in conjunction with or as a replacement for the German Shepherd by Military and Police Forces in a number of countries such as Holland, Germany and the United States. We started around 5 years ago with a couple of Malinois and were extremely pleased with the results. The dogs displayed all of the traits we had come to treasure in our previous working dogs but without many of the problems we had experienced in recent years.

As time went on we learned more about the Malinois both from the perspective of handling and training, and of equal importance in the area of breeding. A great effort has been made to acquire dogs with the bloodlines, characteristics and working achievements (titles) that would allow us to breed top quality working Belgian Malinois. Careful attention was given to bloodline compatibility to ensure proper breeding and transmission of desirable traits without creating problems related to inbreeding. Time was spent studying other kennels, both successful and unsuccessful to better understand what was necessary to achieve our goals. At the end of this process Siam Crown was established. We also continue to receive advice and support from many knowledgable friends such as Bert Kikkert of van de Vroomshoeve.

Of equal importance to our program was the establishment of an in house evaluation and training program for our puppies as well as our dogs, to ensure that the standards and quality that we targeted would be achieved. This type of activity will always be a work in process, but to date we are proud and pleased with the results. We believe that when you peruse the section on our web site entitled "Our Dogs" you will find that we have put together an excellent base for breeding and well as supporting our activities in sport competition. Effectively we look at dogs as a combination of hardware and software. The hardware is the dog itself. It is important to have a high quality dog with the traits you desire, this is an important step towards producing an excellent working dog. It is however only part of the story. No matter how good the hardware is, it is only as good as the software that is programmed in. We look at training as the software side of dogs. The right combination of hardware and software will produce outstanding results, producing the type of companion and competition dog that people can really appreciate.

IPO and working dog competition in Thailand has been rather limited in the past. There are a great many dog lovers in Thailand, but much of the activity has been concentrated in the show and conformity arena. We hope to promote more active interest in sports and working dogs in Thailand especially the Malinois. We also recognize that not everyone wants a protection or sports trained dog. We also breed and train dogs that make excellent companions and excel in obedience without the protection training module. We believe that our puppies and trained dogs will demonstrate the necessary levels of drive and achievement to establish Siam Crown as a sought after source of Malinois through out the world as well as Thailand.

We thank you for visiting our site and hope that you will enjoy your visit with us. Please feel free to give us your comments on the site. We also very much hope that our site will spark your interest in the Belgian Malinois, especially a Siam Crown Malinois.
